Second-hand surge: why buying used is trendy.

Click on the link above (courtesy of Veronica, our Canadian assistant) and check this episode about second-hand purchase. Leave your comments about the topic. Would you buy second-hand? Why is this trend not as popular in Spain as in other Western countries? Should we promote this habit?

  1. Hello from Canada. So nice to still be in touch with all of you! I buy second hand all the time. I am the youngest in a family of three so from when I was a baby I was always wearing second hand clothes that my siblings outgrew. Maybe that's why second hand items feel so normal for me? But it's pretty much a way of life here in Canada. There are all kinds of second hand shops: for clothes, for furniture, for sporting equipment, for computers and stereos - pretty much anything you need. In addition we have many groups like Freecycle and Buy Nothing Groups on Facebook where people just give things away that they no longer need. Everyone does it - from the very poor to the very rich! When I was living in Palencia, I bought quite a few clothes from the second hand shop near the train station (after all, there's only so many clothes you can fit into the one suitcase the airline allows you!). Could you tell that I was wearing second hand clothes when I was in class with you???

  2. Hello, about the questions, yes I will probably buy second-hand clothes, because, why not ? The clothes will suit you better and is less expensive. I know that in Spain the second- hand buying isn’t very popular, honestly I don’t know why. It has a lot of advantages ( like I said before ) So yeah I think we should promote it.
And answering your question Veronica, no we didn’t notice that you were wearing second-hand clothes 😂

  4. Hello Veronica! So nice to still be in touch with you too!
Just the same thing that happened to you is happening to me. I am the median among my siblings. In my family we are two girls and one boy. I always wear my sister's clothes, but she doesn't because she's the oldest and neither my brother because he's the only boy among us, but I do buy new clothes sometimes too. Answering your question, I do remember that you were wearing second-hand clothes when you was in class with us, although it is difficult to distinguish that they were. If I remember correctly, you were wearing a long-sleeved shirt with a slightly open neck and jeans. Maybe brown or black? I don't remember it very well but yes I remember that you looked great with them!
